Swimming

If you are fortunate enough to have a pool or be near a pool, then you can certainly take advantage of it for weight loss. I’m not only in favor of weight loss, I’m in favor of safe weight loss. I believe in a natural approach, whether it be what you eat or what you do to lose weight. Having excess weight while exercising can put a lot of stress on joints and limbs. A swimming pool can help to relieve this. If you don’t know how to swim then you can simply stay in the shallow end and hold onto the wall while kicking your feet. This can be particulary useful if you are extremely obese. You have to start somewhere, and the main idea is just to get some activity going rather than just sitting and doing nothing.

If you are a pretty good swimmer, or at the stage of weight loss when you want to tone down then you may want to try more advanced water exercises. The video below from Self Magazine take you through some different exercises in the pool:
